Melissa Tjakrawisada

Melissa is an empathic, intuitive and reliable clinical psychologist who is passionate about helping her clients be the best version of themselves. She believes in working collaboratively, and providing a balanced approach of fostering change and problem solving, while being compassionate and validating. She thrives to build warm and trusting relationships with her clients. She enjoys working dynamically with her clients in understanding their past and developmental history, identifying their personal strengths and resources, helping them navigate current life challenges, and building more effective coping strategies and resilience.

 

Melissa has over 15 years of experience working across private, non-government organisations and public health settings. She has extensive experience coordinating and running a comprehensive Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) program while working at a community mental health team. She currently works part time at the National Centre for Veterans’ Healthcare.

 

Melissa’s clinical experience has mostly been providing evidence-based treatments to adults and young people presenting with depression, anxiety, PTSD, childhood trauma, intergenerational trauma, family dynamic issues, grief and loss, cross cultural challenges, chronic mental illness, suicidality, self-harm and eating disordered behaviours.

Melissa is experienced in Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).

 

Melissa is a fully registered and endorsed Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. She is also an approved supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia.
